Coronavirus: Dont even think about enjoying yourself outside home during lockdown - This is what government will do to you

Amid lockdown in various states, districts and cities in India to arrest the spread of coronavirus in India, PM Narendra Modi on Monday took to Twitter to say that many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. And, if you are among those planning to step outside home to enjoy, think again as the Central government on Monday directed the states to strictly enforce the lockdown in a bid to curtail the spread of coronavirus. Also, legal actions will be taken against the violators.

"States asked to strictly enforce lockdown. Legal action against violators," the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed. The advisory came in the backdrop of complete lockdown of 75 districts in the country. The government has suspended passenger trains, inter-state buses and metro services across the country till March 31.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India stood at 415, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Seven people have succumbed to the virus till now.

Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the countrymen to take the lockdown seriously and protect their families along with themselves. Modi also requested the state governments to strictly follow the rules and regulations. Modi tweeted, "Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request the state governments to follow the rules and Get the laws done."

On Sunday, millions of people across the country stayed indoors, streets wore a deserted look and bare number of vehicles were on the road on Sunday in an unprecedented shutdown on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for a 'Janata curfew' to help check the spread of coronavirus. As the 14-hour 'Janata curfew' got underway at 7 am, people kept themselves indoors as part of the social distancing exercise to help stop the spread of the virus. All markets and establishments except those dealing in essential goods and services are closed for the day.
