Closing bell: ITC drags Sensex down by 336 points, Nifty tanks 91 points
Shares from IT, auto, banking, realty and tech sectors were among the top losing stocks.
On account of growing anxiety in Sino-US trade talks and ITC shares going southsward by more than 4 per cent, the BSE Sensex tanked 336 points to 36,108 while the 50-share Nifty slide by 91 points to 10,831 levels. Shares from IT, auto, banking, realty and tech sectors were among the top losing stocks. Shares of ICICI Prudential, Deepak Fertilisers and Repco Home Finance were the top losing stock in the intraday trade session.
Among banking sector stocks Bank of Baroda bleed by 2.28 per cent, HDFC Bank went down by around 1.19 per cent, State Bank of India went southward by around 1.45 per cent while Kotak mahindra Bank shares slipped by around 1.5 per cent. But yes Bank shares rose by 2. 6 per cent. Among IT majors, NIIT Technologies went down by 1.41 per cent, Infosys went down by 1.56 per cent, MindTree went southward by 1.58 per cent and Moschip Semiconductor Tech went down by around 3.93 per cent. Among tech stocks, Dish Tv shares went down by around 2.19 per cent, RComm shares nosedived 2.32 per cent while ITI went southward by around half a per cent.
Simi Bhaumik, Technical Equity Analyst (officially registered with SEBI) told Zee Business online, "The markets are testing its support levels and investors need not to panic due to this slide in Indian indices. If the market opens tomorrow on higher note and the Nifty sustains above 10,850 levels, we can expect a reccovery again." She said that today's slide was due to the heavy sell-off in the ITC and Reliance Industries stocks.

Among Asian indices, Japan's Nikkei went down by around 0.14 per cent to 20,593 while Shanghai index too edged down by around 0.01 per cent. However, Korean Kospi went up by around 0.47 per cent and Hang Seng edged higher by 0.01 per cent.
In US markets, Dow 30 tanked 301 points or 1.22 per cent to 24,404 levels while Nasdaq wnt down 136 points or 1.91 per cent to 7,020 levels on Tuesday close.
