In a boost for the tourism sector, Civil Aviation Minister is set to release guidelines on seaplanes on Thursday, August 22, sources told Zee Business.

The guidelines will likely make it easier to establish seaplane operations and aerodromes, and will also increase the regulatory requirements applicable to pilots, according to the sources. 

The guidelines will also enable tourism-related companies to operate seaplanes, they said. 

Private sector airline SpiceJet, which claims to have introduced the concept in the country on a pilot basis, has clearances in place for operating seaplanes.
