Cheque bounce case: This man convicted to be jailed for 15 months
A special court on Tuesday sentenced a man to 15 months in jail and fined Rs 76 lakh in a cheque bounce case in Muzaffarnagar.
Special court judge S O Goel convicted Rajive Mishra under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
According to the prosecution, Jai Kumar filed a complaint, alleging that Mishra had issued a cheque of Rs 76 lakh in his favour in June 2011, but it bounced.
The court directed Mishra to pay Rs 1.52 crore including the fine to the complainant.
According to the prosecution, Mishra had cheated many people after promising them various government benefits.
