"It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Sh. #CharanjitSinghChanni has been unanimously elected as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party of Punjab," Rawat Tweeted.
Hw was selected ahead of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa whose name was ding the rounds for the top post as per an IANS report.

A meeting was ongoing on this at Rahul Gandhi`s Delhi residence to decide the next chief minister of Punjab, this report said.
He is likely to meet the Governor later in the day.
Earlier, Ambika Soni declined to become the chief minister in favour of a Sikh name.
The Congress has been holding several meets since Saturday after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as the chief minister of Punjab.
