The government on Wednesday suspended Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official Captain Anil Gill with immediate effect. The aviation regulator was contemplating initiating disciplinary proceedings against Gill on alleged corruption charges, according to an official order.

Gill was suspended under Section 10 of central civil services norms, which enable the appointing authority to suspend a government official in cases where disciplinary proceedings are contemplated or pending.

"It is further ordered that during the period that this order shall remain in force, the headquarters of Capt Anil Gill, Director should be New Delhi and the said Capt Anil Gill shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining the previous permission of the undersigned," the order added.

“There is zero tolerance to malpractices," Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on the matter. 

"Any such issue will always be dealt with the strictest measures in accordance with the law,” Scindia said.
