Centre plans to invest Rs 1,44,922 crore in Karnataka in next two years
Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari will launch highways projects worth Rs 873.5 crores in Shimoga district in Karnataka today.
Gadkari, who is on a two-day official tour of the state, will lay the foundation stone for over 500 km of highways projects worth over Rs 3700 crores in the districts of Shimoga, Bellary, Bidar, Bijapur and Hubli.
Speaking at an event in Shimoga Gadkari announced that the Centre has plans to invest approximately an amount of Rs 1,44,922 crore in the Karnataka in the next two years.
The Minister informed that 6805 Km of National Highways have been declared in Karnataka between 2014-2017, as against only 6760 km upto 2014. With this the total length of national highways in the state has gone upto 13565 Km, including 6433 km declared in principle.
He said, while there are 105 ongoing projects of length 2,795 km worth Rs 19,638 Crores, another 19 projects of length 230 km and cost Rs 1,676 crore will soon be awarded. 34 projects of length 4,000 km and costing Rs 25,000 crores have already been tendered while DPR is being prepared for 34 more projects.
