While presenting the cabinet expansion program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled some surprising decisions, one of them included Smriti Irani stepping down as Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister and instead being appointed as the new textile minister, according to an ANI alert.

Smriti Irani is an Indian politician and currently serves as a Minister of Human Resource Development in the Government of India. Irani represents the state of Gujarat as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.

According to the sources, Irani will be replacing Santosh Gangwar the current Minister of textile. On 26 May 2014, Gangwar took oath for Minister of State (MoS) Cabinet in the Modi government and working well for textile industry growth.

Prakash Javdekar  the Union Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change will replace Irani in HRD department.
