According to Anil Singhvi, Direct tax is a tax which a government charges you from your income. For example,  suppose you earned some money, you have to pay some percentage to the government and the rest is yours. Those who do not earn, they are exempted from this tax.

"Direct tax is as same as Income Tax. It is like the way you pay income tax from your earnings. There are so many taxes such as Gift Tax, Wealth Tax, Short Term-Long term Capital Gain Tax and many more, these are the taxes people need to pay from the earnings," he further added.

Anil Singhvi also said that this tax is for both companies, corporates. The meaning of direct tax is very clear -- directly connect to your income.

"There is also indirect tax, I will explain that too but for now just understand that everyone has to pay the direct tax, no one can escape from it," he noted.
