Budget 2021: FM Nirmala Sitharaman to kick start pre-budget consultations with stakeholders today

Budget 2021: Every year people have huge expectations from the general budget. Service class expect tax sops so that they can pay less and save more money, while Industry is hopeful of other cuts. However, the process of making budget is very long. Finance Ministry talks to all the representative of all sectors and stakeholders concerned, understands their problems and needs and accordingly different schemes are incorporated in the budget for them.  

Meetings to be held virtually
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will start pre- Budget consultations with different stakeholder groups from today in New Delhi in connection with the forthcoming General Budget 2021-22. The meetings will be held virtually. The meeting with top industrialists will be spread over morning and afternoon sessions.  This information was shared by the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.

Previous decision to entertain suggestion in email

Earlier, keeping in the view coronavirus pandemic, Finance Ministry has decided to take all suggestions from stakeholders’ groups in the email. To entertain suggestions for General Budget 2021, the ministry will create an email id. The decision was taken in the view of Covid 19. The ministry has also provided platform to accept suggestions of general people on ‘MyGov' portal of the Finance Ministry. This platform was open from November 15 to November 30.  

Making General Budget 2020-21 more democratic

Finance Ministry has been asking holding discussions with industry associations, trade organizations and experts in the North Block before bringing out general budget. The ministry had said that the government had started ‘MyGov' micro-site (online portal) to increase participation of people for Genral Budget 20201 and make it even more democratic. General budget is likely to be presented by the Ministry of Finance on February 1
