BSE, NSE open flat; auto, bank stocks lead fall
On BSE, Auto index was trading at 20000.57 below 144.05 point or 0.72 and that of S&P Bankex index was at 21205.58 down by 110.43 point or 0.52%.
BSE Sensex opened in green on Thursday and rose over 50 points before giving up gains to trade flat.
AT 945 hours, Sensex was trading down -0.02% and Nifty was down 0.13%.
On BSE, Auto index was trading at 20000.57 below 144.05 point or 0.72 and that of S&P Bankex index was at 21205.58 down by 110.43 point or 0.52%.
At 936 hours, Sensex was trading at 26,634.56 down 18.25 points or 0.07%, while Nifty 50 was at 8,225.60 10.85 points or 0.13%. However, both Sensex and Nifty were above 72 and 18 points respectively in the early tradings.
The 30-stocks index recorded 18 advances and 12 declines and on the other hand 51-stocks index held 31 advances and 20 declines.
Top gainers on BSE were - Gail India trading at Rs 436.90 per share up by 2.85%, followed by ONGC at Rs 296.50 per share (2.60%), Housing Development Finance Corp (HDFC) at Rs 1282 per share (1.37%), Reliance Industries at Rs 1005 per share (1.23%) and ICICI Bank at Rs 267 per share (0.75%).
While top losers on BSE were - Asian Paints at Rs 952 per share (1.84%), Tata Motors at Rs 453.90 per share (1.19%), PowerGrid at Rs 189.75 per share (1.17%), Bharti Airtel at Rs 320.80 per share (1.14%) and Maruti Suzuki at Rs 5207.95 per share (1.05%).
Bank Nifty was trading at 18,654.95 up by 27.15 points or 0.15%. State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank were gainers by trading in the range of 0.30%-0.60%.
