From time-to-time the Indian Railways has announced various measures with regard to booking train tickets online through its digital platform Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp Ltd (IRCTC). The regulatory board has taken care of both reservation and tatkal ticket booking, making life easier for customers. To further make train travelling easier, IRCTC through its official Twitter account has asked passengers to authenticate their IRCTC user ID with Aadhaar and book up to 12 tickets a month.

The catering service provider today said, “Too many journeys, too little time? Worry not, authenticate your IRCTC user ID with Aadhar and book up to 12 tickets a month! Log on to http://www.irctc.co.in  NOW!”

IRCTC released a teaser with a tagline saying, “To book more than 6 tickets in a month please authenticate your IRCTC user ID with Aadhaar and book up to 12 tickets a month.” This teaser comes as an motivation to passengers in order to avail more tickets and is also an initiative taken to boost the government move in making Aadhaar mandatory.

Now users are allowed to book up to 12 tickets in a month, if users get themselves verified through their Aadhaar number along with at least one passenger also being verified through Aadhaar.

At the same time, no Aadhaar identification will be needed for booking up to six tickets in a month - it will continue to remain same.
