Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is gearing up to stop the second wave of the coronavirus infection in the financial capital of India. The municipal corporation will be keeping a close eye on the people travelling to the city through rail, road or by air. There are other steps that the corporation is taking to prevent the onslaught of the virus in the city.
Zee Business’ Special Correspondent Ekta Suri has this report.
BMC will not only be keeping an eye on the passengers who travel to the city it will also be monitoring issues at the local level, she reported. One of the things that the civic body will do is to keep a watch on reverse migration. If somebody has returned to his home, the BMC will make enquiries from the person. It could take further action depending upon the need if the person does not have the Covid 19 test reports, she reported.
The above steps will be taken as a matter of precaution by the local administration.
The civic agency has also been in touch with the local doctors to keep a tab on all those persons who have the symptoms and have visited the doctor for check-up. This will enable a direct contact with the state government’s Covid war room.
India’s richest municipal body is also organising health camps in slums to prevent recurring of the infection.
The BMC will also keep an eye on the social gathering for contact tracing in the event of people getting infected.
However, there are no plans to shut restaurants, gyms and malls in Mumbai as of now.
It has also procured medicines like Favipiravir and Remdesivir that are required to treat the coronavirus infected persons.
