Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has decided to extend the date of closure of schools and colleges in the state. As per the new order, now schools, colleges and all other educational institutes in the state will remain closed till April 18. The decision has been taken to contain the spread of surging Covid 19 cases.

Earlier, Bihar government had order to close all these institutes till April 11, however, it was decided in high-level meeting that the order shall be extended by another week. 

The meeting was held by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in the state.  

As per the decision, schools in Bihar will continue to remain shut for one more week. The announcement has been made by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) that all schools, colleges and educational institutions across the state will remain shut till April 18. 

"Order for closure of schools from April 5 to April 11 has been extended for one more week," said Bihar chief minister while addressing a press conference.  

"For those are returning to the state due to this unprecedented situation, arrangements are also being made for them. Those coming from Maharashtra will be tested for Covid 19 at the railway stations," Nitish Kumar added
