Bihar Politics Latest News: Amid media buzz of a merger between Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), the RLSP has strongly denied any such plan in the near future. The RLSP National General Secretary Rahul Kumar denied any such plan of the party.

Asked about the possible JD(U)-RLSP merger, Rahul Kumar said, "All media reports in regard to the JD(U)-RLSP merger is mere speculation. The RLSP supremo Upendra Kushwaha had met with Nitish Kumar at his official residence in Patna to discuss the public issue as he is Chief Minister of the state. This was a courtesy meeting and the media turned it another way which the RLSP never accepted."

On why JD(U) leaders are so vocal over JD(U)-RLSP merger when RLSP has no such plans Kumar said, "RLSP knows the reason for their eagerness to this mission impossible. Actually, in Shahabad and Magadh region, JD(U) and BJP lost around 30 seats (in first phase of recent Bihar election), which was their stronghold. The local and national media gave credit for this loss to Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan but in actual it was Kushwaha votes that shifted from JD(U) to RLSP that become a voterloo for both NDA and Mahagathbandhan candidate."

Shift in Nitish Kumar vote base
The RLSP National General Secretary went on to add that Nitish Kumar is looking at all possible ways to consolidate his vote bank, especially after the Bihar election results that made JD(U) a junior partner in the NDA. He said that Nitish Kumar is trying to consolidate his usual Luv-Kush combination that he enjoyed when Upendra Kushwaha was in JD(U). After Kushwaha's exit, the Kushwahas have deserted Nitish Kumar and this is the reason why JD(U) leaders are so vocal for the merger.

RLSP lends support to farmers' protest
On what Upendra Kushwaaha got after leaving Nitish Kumar and NDA, Rahul said, "To incept a party and consolidate one's public base, it definitely takes time and RLSP is working on that. Since, Bihar elections are over and there is no election in near future, RLSP will use this time to reach out to its core voters by highlighting such issues of national interest like farmers protest."
