Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the BJP government will provide free rides to all women in the state on government buses of all classes on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 15. This facility will be provided to women in the state from mid-night of August 14 to mid-night of August 15, according to the official statement.

Minister for state Transport (Independent Charge) Swatantradev Singh has directed the department officials to make special arrangements for buses in a better state to facilitate the passengers to reach their destination on time, according to the statement.

The UP Transport department will also make arrangements for extra buses from August 13 to August 18 for places, including Delhi Meerut, Saharanpur, Agra, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi, along with other important cities, it added.

Notably, the Yogi government has also canceled the holidays of employees of police and other related departments till August 15, to maintain peace during Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day.

State Chief Secretary Dr Anoop Chandra Pandey issued a statement and directed to cancel the leave of police and other related government officials. He said that no holiday should be sanctioned to the personnel of police and other related departments till August 15, in view of ensuring security and other arrangements during the upcoming festivals. Raksha Bandhan is on August 15.
