As the new Coronavirus cases decline in the state of Maharashtra, the government is deliberating at reducing the ongoing restrictions. The discussions are on in the Government to reduce restriction in a phase-wise manner in the state. What is likely to the PLAN UNLOCK for the Maharashtra government? Zee Business’ Subodh Mishra has this exclusive report.  

Mishra said that the cases have been on the decline in Maharashtra and now the government is thinking on bringing the state on the right track. The government has been holding meetings to decide on the contours of the unlocking.

Citing his sources, Mishra said that the process of unlocking may start from 1 June and the unlocking is expected to happen in a phased manner.  

He said that in the first and second phase, there could be a decision on the shops. Since the monsoon is ongoing, the government is very serious on this. Shops related to maintenance and those related to monsoon could be allowed to get open, he said. It is also likely that the opening hours for these shops could be extended, he further said. Currently, many shops have been allowed to open on weekdays i.e. Monday to Friday and that too between 7 am and 11 am.

He said that his sources are telling that the shops could be allowed to open between 9 am and 5 pm.

This will not only help shopkeepers but also the consumers, he said.  

However, the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) will be designed in such a way that the respreading of the infection does not happen.

In the third phase, Government could allow opening of restaurants, bars and wine shops will be opened. There will be an SOP for them as well with measures to enforce social distancing, he further said. The capacity to run a restaurant will also be decided.  

If things go well, the remaining things can also be opened in the fourth phase, he added.
