"Lockdown extended in the state till June 14 to break the COVID-19 chain," ANI quoted Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

As per a report by Times of India, the Chief Minister has also announced second relief package of Rs 500 crore on Thursday. Under the package weavers, workers in film and TV industry, fishermen will get Rs 3000 cash assistance. While teachers of unaided schools will get Rs 5000.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the Chief Minister had hinted that strict measures may continue in the state as cases are still high in rural areas.

"I will discuss how to go about, by extending the lockdown and taking strict measures, with experts and will take a call after taking their suggestions. We will take a decision considering how to balance things and go ahead," he had said on Wednesday.
The state's Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC- consisting of experts), in its report to the government has mentioned that the positivity rate has to come below 5 percent and number of cases should be below 5,000, only then the restrictions can be relaxed.
The state is currently under lockdown till June 7, which has now been extended by one more week that is till June 14. Initially, the state government had announced a 14-day lockdown from April 27, but subsequently imposed a complete lockdown from May 10 to 24.
