BJP Candidate List 2024, PM Narendra Modi​ Lok Sabha Seat: While announcing the decisions of the Central Election Committee on the selection of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election due this year, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Vinod Tawade said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest the polls from the Varanasi seat. In a highly-anticipated press conference held at the party headquarters in New Delhi, Tawade announced some of the key names in the first list of 195 candidates contesting select seats in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala, Telangana, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Dehi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttrakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Goa and Andaman.

  • Amit Shah from Gandhinagar in Gujarat
  • Arjun Munda from Khunti 
  • Mansukh Mandvaiya to contest from Porbandar in Gujarat
  • Notable exclusions from the list include Meenakshi Lekhi, whose ticket has been revoked, indicating a shift in the party's candidate selection strategy 
  • Notably, 47 of these candidates are below the age of 50, reflecting the party's emphasis on nurturing young leadership
  • The BJP allotted 28 tickets to female candidates, reaffirming its dedication to women's empowerment and representation in politics
  • The BJP has ensured adequate representation for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), with 18 and 57 candidates respectively
  • It has picked 57 candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC)
