Badhaai Ho box office collection: The Ayushmann Khurrana starrer released simultaneously in both the domestic and overseas markets on October 18 has received positive reviews and has reached lifetime collection of Rs 117.15 crore in India, despite facing tough competition from Namaste England, but managed to hold its own appeal. Directed by Amit Ravindernath, the family drama is still able to attract footfalls at theatres despite the release of mega movie Thugs of Hindostan.

The mid-sized film is bringing cheers to its makers while the big budget movie like Thugs Of Hindostan is witnessing a poor run at the theatres. Badhaai Ho is getting the perks of Thugs Of Hindostan's poor performance. The film has earned Rs 129 cr in 5 days. Problem is that on Monday, it earned just 6 cr.
If we look at consumption choices of movie-goers, it has completely changed in past few years. They seems to have shifted their focus towards films driven by content and performances. This is the reason that one can see that they have already rejected a mega movie like Thugs Of Hindostan starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif in the star cast. On the contrary, they have favoured Badhaai Ho's simple family drama theme tremendously.
Now that Thugs of Hindostan is engulfed by a sea of problems, Badhaai Ho film, which was getting only 2-3 shows because of the big Diwali release of ToH, has again picked up momentum with 4-5 shows.
Boxoffice can be most unpredictable, but that’s the beauty of this business... #BadhaaiHo was down to 2/3 shows at several plexes during #Diwali weekend, but, today [Mon] onwards, the film is back in 4/5/6 shows... Content is King and the audiences are King Makers!

On the new trend, Taran Adarsh wrote on Bollywood Hungama, "I’d like to single out two keenly awaited movies here – RACE 3 [Eid release] and THUGS OF HINDOSTAN [Diwali release]. Both starred A-listers and were timed during festivals, but, unfortunately, underperformed at the BO. You cannot misjudge or underestimate the audience these days. Yeh public hain, yeh sab jaanti hain."
#BadhaaiHo surpasses #Raazi in international markets... OVERSEAS total after Weekend 4 [till 11 Nov 2018]: $ 5.83 million [₹ 42.48 cr]... Breakup of key markets:#USA + #CANADA: $ 2.805 mn#UAE - #GCC: $ 1.323 mn#UK: $ 408k

He further said, "It’s more than evident that the moviegoers of today are extremely ruthless and in no mood to splurge on movies they sense / hear is substandard. In this era of social media, the word of mouth spreads faster than fire and messages / memes posted on WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube can make or break a movie within hours."
