Baaghi 2 box office collection: Tiger Shroff on cusp of Rs 150 crore milestone; film now a blockbuster
The slowdown is happening despite the fact that there are no really big-star studdded rival movies in the cinemas right now. It was only today that Varun Dhawans latest film October released, but it is not a commercial film in the true sense of the term. It is more offbeat and as such it will not pose too much of a competition for Baaghi 2.
Baaghi 2 box office collection: Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani have been virtually defying gravity with the way their latest film's earnings have been soaring. Till now, that is. The film which was rising at the BO in uncheckable fashion till now has finally slowed down as it entered the new working week. However, Baaghi 2 collection has hit a new high at Rs 148.45 cr, and this has put it on the cusp of reaching the Rs 150 cr milestone. The film's earnings have been steadily falling and this trend is seen over the last few days. While on day 11 it earned Rs 3.80 cr, on day 12 it took in Rs 3.40 cr. On days 13 and 14 Baaghi 2 collection was Rs 3.10 cr and Rs 2.80 cr. The slowdown is happening despite the fact that there are no really big-star studdded rival movies in the cinemas right now. It was only today that Varun Dhawan's latest film October released, but it is not a commercial film in the true sense of the term. It is more offbeat and as such it will not pose too much of a competition for Baaghi 2. Also, its screen count is restricted. It has released in only 1683 screens in India and some 625 overseas. That means October has only a limited disruptive power vis a vis other movies.
Now that the Rs 150 cr mark is so near, it got business analyst Taran Adarsh to take to Twitter, tag it as a super-successful film and to provide the break-up in the domestic market by saying, "#Baaghi2 biz at a glance... Week 1: ₹ 112.85 cr Week 2: ₹ 35.60 cr [3000 screens] Total: ₹ 148.45 cr India biz. BLOCKBUSTER." He also tweeted about how the film was doing overseas, ""#Baaghi2 continues to SCORE in international markets too... OVERSEAS total after 2 weeks: $ 6.4 million [₹ 41.76 cr]… Incidentally, #Baaghi2 is the SECOND FILM in 2018 to cross ₹ 200 cr GBO [GrossBO] WORLDWIDE, after #Padmaavat... Total GrossBO: ₹ 232.06 cr."
What next? Filmmakers would be eyeing a further run in cinemas to keep on adding to the total. Baaghi 2 box office collection is still coming in crores of rupees and can be continued with, all factors remaining the same. Ideal target is Rs 200 crore. For Tiger Shroff that will be a super-achievement so early in his career. Fortunately for him, viewers are liking the movie in enough numbers to keep the word of mouth boost strong even in the second week.
