Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PMJAY): Pay just Rs 30, get medical treatment worth Rs 5 lakh in best hospitals!

Yes, you read that right! The public can get medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh via this method open to all! Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)- Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme, the government has embarked upon a mega health project to cover poor people who were deprived of high-quality medical facilities. Now, they can register themselves under this scheme to get a Golden Card for cashless facility. For this card, they just need to spare Rs 30 to avail to the medical benefit up to Rs 5 lakh at some of the best private hospitals that would be listed under this scheme.

The golden card being given as part of PMJAY will provide a health insurance of five lakh to poor and needy families. The scheme aims to provide annual health insurance cover to 10.74 crore beneficiary families i.e. over 50 crore beneficiaries across India.
The medical card will contain all the requisite medical details of the patient, and it would be introduced to the empanelled hospital at the time of treatment. It would be mandatory on part of the patient to bring this card for availing medical treatment at hospitals.
To get this golden card, a person has to log in to the official website-mera.pmjay.gov.in-- and opt for the HHD code, which he/she has to give to the Common Service Centre, where Ayushman Mitra would check the HDD code along with other details. The Ayushman Mitra will complete rest of the process at the CSC. Applicants just need to pay Rs 30 for the golden card.
Prior to their registration, applicants should go through the beneficiary list and know about their eligibility. They can log on to the official website, and can also call at helpline member--14555.
In order to know about eligibility for the scheme, applicants should visit nearby empanelled hospital and get their registration done at the hospital counter, where Ayushman Mitra would help them. The information uploaded in the software will be utilised for future purpose.
The scheme will cover the beneficiary families identified on the basis of Socio Economic Caste Survey (SECC) 2011 conducted in 444 districts of 30 states/Union Territories.
Notably, Uttar Pradesh government is also launching UP PMJAY Health Insurance Scheme today. This scheme will benefit around 1.18 crore poor families in the state. The family whose name appears in SECC-2011 data will get Rs 5 lakh Insurance cover under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). The state government will also provide Golden Cards to the beneficiaries.

Under this National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS), people will get secondary and tertiary hospitalization at government and private empanelled hospitals. Till date, the state government has listed 274 hospitals and has received an application from 700 more hospitals willing to join the UP PMJAY Health Scheme. To implement the Health Insurance Scheme across the state successfully, the Uttar Pradesh has been divided into 4 zones.
