The Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday launched the e-governance for Civil Aviation (e-GCA) to bring a new paradigm for the Indian aviation sector. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has worked with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on the same.
During the event, the aviation minister said as time evolves, so should the governance. He added that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier mentioned, "we must be a customer-centric government which is responsive that brings monumental change and not incremental change".

The aviation sector must be made a customer-friendly sector. We have converted DGCA to eGCA at one stroke, in many ways this is a rebirth, he added.
He further added that 298 services have been moved to the eGCA Platform and 99 services will be moved in first phase (70 per cent), while the rest 30 per cent of the services will be moved in second phase.
The minister said that through this it has become a single window platform. Medical clearance for pilots will now be done in 2-3 days, which earlier used to take at least a month, he added. For pilots license, earlier things used to happen offline which is now being moved online, he further informed.
Also, now with a QR code, all details can be accessed. Even physical log book for pilots is being moved to the mobile app. Pilots can now update flying details along with medical assessment on the app. Aircraft registration and deregistration is also being moved online.
The aviation minister instructed the department to engage with stakeholders for Phase I.
