Bijuli Kalita Medhi of the BJP leads her nearest Congress competitor, Mira Borthakur Goswami, by more than 59,000 votes in the renowned Guwahati parliamentary constituency, according to election officials.

Medhi now has 1,73,622 votes, while her opponent has 113662 votes.

The BJP replaced its current MP, Queen Ojha, with Medhi, the state party vice-president.
