Ashram flyover extension set to open on this day - Check the details
The majority of the work has been completed, and the rest is at an advanced stage. It is most likely to be completed in the next few days. The inauguration process has been rescheduled a couple of times.
Traffic woes at the Ashram flyover extension are likely to be a thing of the past as the extension is set to be inaugurated on Monday, having missed the latest deadline of February 28. As per media reports, the inauguration of the flyover has been rescheduled to March 6 after the road closure of nearly two months. Commuters in Delhi-NCR are facing a heavy traffic problem since the route has been closed for the past few months. The Delhi Traffic Police made several traffic diversions to ease traffic on the stretch, but it gave little respite to the commuters.
The majority of the work has been completed, and the rest is at an advanced stage. It is most likely to be completed in the next few days. The inauguration process has been rescheduled a couple of times previously.
Both carriageways of the Ashram Flyover Road had been closed, as the construction work of the connecting road between the Ashram Flyover and the New Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyover has been going on since January 1, 2023.
At present, commuters coming and going from Noida and Ghaziabad to South Delhi have to face heavy congestion while travelling from the DND loop to the Ashram intersection.
Construction work on the flyover extension started in June 2020, after the Delhi Cabinet approved the project. The total cost of the project is Rs 128.25 crore while the total length of the flyover, including a ramp, is 1,425 metres.
The flyover extension was scheduled to be inaugurated on February 28. There were rumours making the rounds that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had cancelled the event after the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Delhi's education minister, Manish Sisodia. But Kejriwal refuted rumours in a press conference claiming the government postponed the inauguration because of incomplete work. "It might be inaugurated. The postponement was not due to Sisodia's (arrest). But a few works remain which would be completed in three-four days," he was quoted as saying by PTI.
