Arun Jaitley dismisses withdrawal of 1% excise duty on gold
The Finance Minister in Lok Sabha dismissed the withdrawal of excise duty on gold.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, in Lok Sabha on Thursday, dismissed the withdrawal of 1% excise duty on gold.
"I want to make it clear that when tax imposes on items of common people and the society runs through tax, then it's not justified to keep luxury items aside from tax," Jaitley has said.
"I will admit whatever suggestions will be made by the jewellers, artisans and bullion traders. Agitation runs on artificial dreams, the country can't run on the basis of it," he added.
