Arnab Goswami slams CM Uddhav Thackeray, says 'you have lost, you have been defeated' after securing bail

After securing bail from the Supreme Court, Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami hit out at the Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena party supremo Uddhav Thackeray for allegedly ordering his arrest him in the abetment to suicide case. Arnab called it a fake case. Arnab Goswami, who has been in a judicial custody for a week, said "Uddhav Thackeray, listen to me. You lost. You have been defeated."  Arnab was in Taloja jail.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted him the bail after he deposited a bail bond of Rs 50,000. Goswami, after his release from Taloja jail near Mumbai around 8.30 pm, drove to the Lower Parel studio of the channel.

Arnab Goswami also singled out Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh for his “illegal” arrest on 4 November in a 2018 suicide abetment case.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in May this year had announced that a re-investigation was ordered on a fresh complaint by the daughter of the architect Adnya Naik. Anvay Naik and his mother allegedly committed suicide over non-payment of dues by Goswami’s Republic TV, a PTI report had earlier said quoting an official.

The Home Minister had earlier said that Naik’s daughter had alleged about Alibaug police not investigating the non-payment of dues from Goswami's channel.  She had claimed that this reason drove her father and grandmother to commit suicide in May 2018.

Goswami has been facing a torrid time from the Mumbai Police recently and today, it has been revealed that he has been arrested. Goswami has been held, it has been revealed, in an abetment to suicide case. Arnab Goswami was arrested from his home when about a dozen or so policemen arrived at his residence.
