Armed Forces Flag Day 2018: Armed Forces Flag Day is being observed today across the country to honour the martyrs as well as the men and women in uniform who have valiantly fought to save the country's honour.
Armed Forces Flag Day 2018: Armed Forces Flag Day is being observed today across the country to honour the martyrs as well as the men and women in uniform who have valiantly fought to save the country's honour. Armed Forces Flag Day is observed everyday on 7th December. It is an important occasion to remind citizens, their obligation to look after the veterans, disabled soldiers, war widows and dependents of those who have sacrificed their lives for the safety, honour and integrity of India.
Armed Forces Flag Day is being observed since 07 December, 1949.
The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) has also been constituted by the Government of India for the welfare and rehabilitation of the Ex-servicemen (ESM) community. Armed Forces Flag Day Fund was setup in 1993 to extend support to disabled ex-servicemen, war widows, children of martyrs and other such beneficiaries who need our care and support.

There are over 30 lakh ESM including 6.5 lakh widows and around 60,000 ESM are added every year due to early superannuation. The contributions received from prospective donors of AFFDF are utillsed to provide basis sustenance needs of the ESM community through a medium of welfare schemes.

Citizens can show their sense of pride by wearing the flag representing three services from till 31 December 2018. These flags are available at all Government offices. Alternatively, printable version of the flags can be downloaded from www.ksb.gov.in.
