News agency ANI tweeted from its official Twitter handle, "A loud sound heard in many parts of Bengaluru around 1215 hours today, details awaited."

ANI further tweeted from its official Twitter handle, "Regular sorties of fighters and trainee aircraft take place from HAL airport. Today was no different. HAL can't comment on the loud sound reportedly heard today in Bengaluru: Gopal Sutar, Spokesperson, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)."

This loud reminds many of the sonic boom which was heard in the month of May last year. An ANI report on May 20, 2020, stated that citizens across the parts of Bengaluru were puzzled by hearing a loud booming sound. The officials later confirmed that the sonic boom was the result of a routine test flight of the Indian Air Force.

The Defence Minsitry also tweeted last year saying, "It was a routine IAF Test Flight involving a supersonic profile which took off from Bluru Airport and flew in the allotted airspace well outside City limits. The aircraft was of Aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment (ASTE)  @IAF_MCC @SpokespersonMoD."

The tweet from the Defence Ministry further said, "The sonic boom was probably heard while the aircraft was decelerating from supersonic to subsonic speed between 36,000 and 40000 feet altitude."

Last year the sound was heard across eastern Bengaluru from Kempegowda International Airport, Kalyan Nagar, MG Road, Marathahalli, Sarjapur, Whitefield, Electronic City right up to Hebbagodi.

However, this time the sound of the sound has not been confirmed yet. HAL also could not comment on the sound reportedly heard in Bangalore.
