Alert! Is your IRCTC ID linked with Aadhaar? If not you wont be able to book train ticket, heres why
Last year in November month, Indian Railways has made two changes in regards to train tickets booking online.
Alert! Frequently travelling train passengers might want to make sure that their train ticket bookings have the same name as mentioned on their Aadhaar cards! If not, they may not be able to complete their journey. Although, the order to make Aadhaar card compulsory is still in the works, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has taken a few steps in motivating citizens to link their Aadhaar number with services like PAN, mobile SIM, bank account and even insurance policies. Indian Railways has followed the same pattern in encouraging passengers to link Aadhaar card with their IRCTC account. They have launched a list of benefits, which can help make train ticket booking easier and flexible.
Now in a major move to boost this trend, IRCTC has taken some measures. Now, users may get in a lot of trouble while trying to book train tickets if their account is not linked with Aadhaar. These passengers cannot book their ticket more than 6 or 6 tickets at a time in a month. The same problem will arise for passengers if their IRCTC ID details do not match with Aadhaar card.
According to Dainik Bhasker, the users name cannot be changed due to technical reasons at the moment. However, given the problem of users, the opinion to change the mobile number has been started. The process of renaming the user will be starting soon.
Reportedly, another official told Dainik that, only about 5% of the tickets are booked, which includes six or more passengers. At present, the number of users at IRCTC are about 30 million. Of these, only eight million users have linked their account to the base.
Last year in November month, Indian Railways has made two changes in regards to train tickets booking online.
In a notification, IRCTC said that now users are allowed to book up to 12 tickets in a month, if users get themselves verified through their Aadhaar number along with at least one passenger also being verified through Aadhaar.
At the same time, no Aadhaar identification will be needed for booking up to six tickets in a month - it will continue to remain same.
