Weather news: Mercury hits 48 degree Celsius in Haryana; IMD issues alerts in many states
IMD has issued a warning of severe heat and severe heatwave in many states of North India including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh for Wednesday, May 22.
In many states, the temperature is likely to hit 48 degrees Celsius in North India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature was recorded at 47.8 degree Celsius in Harayan's Sirsa on Tuesday, May 22.
As temperatures continue to soar in the national capital also, doctors on Tuesday advised caution against prolonged exposure to heat.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a heatwave and hot and humid weather warning for the next seven days in New Delhi.
The maximum temperature will range between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius.
IMD issues alerts for these states
IMD has issued a warning of severe heat and severe heatwave in many states of North India including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh for Wednesday, May 22. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh till May 25. Apart from this, heatwave conditions may also arise in parts of Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh till May 25. At the same time, such conditions are expected to remain in Maharashtra till May 24.

If we talk about the weather in Delhi, the maximum temperature recorded here on Tuesday was 42.4 degrees. Today, from May 22 to May 24, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 43 degrees to 45 degrees. The temperature is expected to remain up to 46 degrees between May 25 and May 28. Whereas the minimum temperature can reach 30 to 32 degrees. Meanwhile, conditions ranging from heatwave to severe heatwave may arise in many areas of Delhi.
