After Income Tax return filing deadline, Pan-Aadhaar linking last date extended till March 2022
The deadline to link PAN with biometric ID Aadhaar has been extended by six months till March 2022 .The deadline was earlier till September 30, 2021.
In a major relief for people grappling with the covid 19 pandemic, the central government after increasing the last date of filing income tax has decided to extend PAN-Aadhaar linking deadlines as well. "In view of the difficulties being faced by the taxpayers, the Central Govt has extended certain timelines," said the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in statement on late Friday.

The deadline to link PAN with biometric ID Aadhaar has been extended by six months till March 2022 . The deadline was earlier till September 30, 2021.
“Time limit for intimation of Aadhaar number to the Income tax Department for linking of PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from 30th September, 2021 to 31st March, 2022,” it said.
It further informed that the due date for completion of penalty proceedings under the I-T Act has been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Further, the time limit for issuance of notice and passing of order by the Adjudicating Authority under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 has been extended to March 2022.
Earlier, on September 9, the government has extended the deadline for filing Income Tax returns till December 31 in the view of the coronavirus pandemic and technical problems with new IT website.
"On consideration of difficulties reported by the taxpayers and other stakeholders in filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22 under the Income-tax Act, 1961(the “Act”), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to further extend the due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22," the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
