IMD Weather alert: After the National Capital witnessed hottest day on March 29, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for certain regions. As per the IMD, Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura will see rains and thunderstorms on March 30-31.

It predicted rains and thunderstorms over these northeastern states along with a forecast of "intense wet spell" over northeast India until April 2.
Under the influence of strong lower level southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, fairly widespread to widespread rain with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places are very likely over northeast India during March 29-April 2 with maximum activity on March 30-31, the IMD said.
It is being said that this is due to the pressure of Western Disturbance, although the same phenomenon is also likely to bring some relief from Tuesday.
“Isolated heavy falls on 29th March & 01st April and isolated heavy to very heavy falls on 30th & 31st March are very likely over south Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. Isolated heavy falls are likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 01st April, 2021”, IMD added.
Earlier, Delhi crossed 40 degrees on Holi on Monday (March 29), the hottest day in March since 1945 (76 years).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a statement saying that for the first time since 1945, Delhi has witnessed such hot weather. According to IMD, on March 29, mercury in Delhi reached 40.1 degree Celsius. Not only this, but hot summer winds have also started in the capital, which usually starts in late April.
