On Day 2, the film's collection was expected to cross at least Rs 30 crore as it was running on 5000 screens but the film collected Rs 28.25 (Hindi) and Rs 29.25 crores (Including Tamil and Telugu collection), which was below the expectation.

The word of mouth feedback for the film by moviegoers was not so positive, resulting in a decrease in the 2nd-day collection, even as it was a festive day where most of the people were having a holiday.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted "#ThugsOfHindostan HINDI: Thu 50.75 cr, Fri 28.25 cr. Total: ? 79 cr. TAMIL + TELUGU: Thu 1.50 cr, Fri 1 cr. Total: ? 2.50 cr. Total: ? 81.50 cr [5000 screens] India biz. #TOH"

It was expected that the movie will see a growth in the collection on Saturday and Sunday on the box office.

Adarsh said that "#ThugsOfHindostan has to show a positive upturn on Day 3 Saturday, else its sustainability from Day 5 [Mon] onwards will be extremely doubtful... One thing is crystal clear: #TOH has NOT met the monumental expectations... The BO numbers are doing the talking now."

However, the Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif starrer is expected to sustain its numbers on Saturday and Sunday much in line with Friday's earning, film critic and trade analyst Akshaye Rathi told ZeeBiz.Com.
