Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has suggested what to do if you are using rent agreement for address update in Aadhaar. UIDAI in a tweet has suggested how to update address in Aadhaar card using rent agreement.

This is what UIDAI tweet said about Aadhaar card address update using rent agreement: "#AadhaarUpdateChecklist If you are using Rent Agreement for Address update in Aadhaar, use a registered rent agreement that has your name. For online address update, scan the entire document and create a single pdf file to upload."

Aadhaar card address update using rent agreement: How to do it:-

- Use a registered rent agreement 

- The agreement should be in the applicant's name 

- For online address update, scan the entire document

- Create a single pdf file to upload

Moreover, to update the address of other family members:-

- Use validation letter service

IMPORTANT POINTS:

- Rent agreement is only acceptable with Sub-Registrar stamp

- A registered rent agreement is a notarised agreement which is generally made for 11 months

- It has to be registered by visiting Sub Registrar's office and pay stamp duty which is generally about 3-5% of the annual rent.

UIDAI is mandated to issue an easily verifiable 12 digit random number as Unique Identity - Aadhaar to all Residents of India.
