7th Pay Commission: This state commits to give its employees 7th CPC benefits

7th Pay Commission: Even as there has been no latest announcement on the central government employees pay hike, Tripura government said that the state is committed to provide the 7th Central Pay Commission benefits to its employees.  Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma while presenting the 2018-19 Budget said Rs 1,000 crore has been provisioned to offer the 7th Pay Commission benefits to the state government employees. He said the 7th CPC recommendations will be implemented once the PP Verma Committee submitted its report.
 
He also said for those who join government service from July 1, 2018, the government will implement a new pension policy. He said that the new pension scheme will be introduced to reduce the financial burden on the state government. The Centre recently approved the salary hike for the pensioners, teaching and non-teaching staff of the central universities and deemed universities under UGC. The decision is likely to benefit about 23 lakh of these staff to the tune of Rs 6000 to Rs 18,000. 
 
In another development, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers demanding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission went on protest  in Kashmir.  Meanwhile, state and central government employees have been demanding for the pay hike beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The government has not yet taken any decision so far on the matter.

However, recent reports suggest as the 2019 Lok Sabha election is approaching, the Narendra Modi government may come up with some sops for these employees before the polls. Around 48 lakh central government employees will be benefited if the government accepts the demand.
