7th Pay Commission report windfall has been promised to these government employees by the highest occupiers of positions in the central government. Now, that their party's government has been formed in this state, time has come for them to follow up on their poll promises and do the needful by making the all-important announcement. But as the old saying goes, there is many a slip between the cup and the lip and it so transpires that a huge number of motions have to be gone through and all of these take time and effort and this is increasing the worry of the staff concerned. This was the fine print that is not bandied about, but which can play an important role in when exactly the 7th Pay Commission recommendations actually end up getting cleared, thereby hiking the salaries of the government servants.

While the announcements have been made about implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the state of Manipur, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the elections and formed the government, there is still some way to go before the happy event comes to pass. The next step was taken by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who met Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi on Friday. Since the state's finances will not be able to bear the burden of such a huge outgo on government employees salaries, the CM jetted off to the national capital and sought financial assistance from the Centre to be able to implement the 7th Pay Commission report recommendations. This was revealed by a statement issued by the Chief Minister's secretariat.

In what will definitely bring smiles to the faces of the government servants, the statement also said, "The Union Finance Minister assured the CM to provide maximum possible financial assistance to the state."

7th Pay Commission Poll Promise
As far back as March 10, just a day after assuming office, the CM had announced formation of an expert committee for paving the way for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in Tripura. This follows in the wake of announcements in BJP poll manifesto regarding implementing the recommendations of the 7th pay commission in the state were the party be elected to power in Tripura after the polls. While the issue is hot in Tripura, at the Centre, central government employees too are waiting. While the 7th pay commission recommendation has been implemented, staff want salary hikes according to a fitment factor of 3.68 and not as per the recommendations of the report, which is 2.57 times. This point is stuck and there is not much clarity on the issue, keeping the employees on tenterhooks.
