7th Pay Commission: These employees continue with their protest demanding pay, allowance hike
7th Pay Commission: Thousands of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in Kashmir continued with their protest on Saturday to demand implementation of the 7th CPC
7th Pay Commission: Even as the central government employees wait for the minimum pay and fitment factor hike beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, thousands of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in Kashmir continued with their protest on Saturday to demand implementation of the 7th CPC. The government is considering their demands, which also includes the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission report, said Education Minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali recently.
He appealed to the teachers to avoid taking to streets. SSA teachers also held protests across Kashmir on Wednesday to press for their demands. "Chaired a meeting regarding the salaries of SSA teachers to find a swift resolution to this issue," Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted recently.
She also directed the authorities to resolve the issues of the protesting teachers and release their salaries. The protesting teachers said that the government was not serious about their demand. Police detained some of the protesting teachers on Wednesday at the Shaheed Gunj police station, a report said. There are speculations going around that PM Narendra Modi may announce minimum pay and fitment factor hike beyond the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission on August 15.
In March this year Minister of State in Finance P Radhakrishnan informed Rajya Sabha that it was not considering minimum pay and fitment factor raise beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendation. The 7th Central Pay Commission proposals were put forward in November 2015 to the Narendra Modi-led government and it was approved on June 28, 2017.
