7th Pay Commission: Pensions of these people doubled in Madhya Pradesh; read all about it

7th Pay Commission: There is good news for pensioners, as the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal to hike the pension amount by more than double as per the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations. This move will benefit over 4.39 lakh pensioners in the state. Anganwadi workers salary increase also found favour with the state Cabinet. They will get double the monthly honorarium they get now. The decision came at a crucial point of time sas the state Assembly elections that are due next year. 

The state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the proposal. The 7th Pay Commission benefits will be extended to the retired government employees and those getting family pension, Madhya Pradesh public relations minister Narottam Mishra said.

Following this, the pension will effectively, go up by 2.57 times. The 7th Pay Commission recommendation implementation will put an additional burden of Rs 850 crore on the exchequer. In what will bring even greater joy, it was announced that the pensioners would get the 7th Pay Commission benefit with retrospective effect. The  retrospective effect will be calculated from January 1, 2016. The state Cabinet also approved double the monthly honorarium of anganwadi workers to Rs 10,000 from the present Rs 5,000.

Assistant anganwadi workers will get Rs 5,750 from Rs 3,250. A diet allowance of Rs 4,000 per month  to pregnant women labourers also gets the Cabinet nod and Rs 12,000 post-delivery assistance. Mishra said 8.64 lakh women labourers in the unorganised sector in the state will be benefited  from the move. 

Even as this major news has come for these pensioners, at the central government employees level, the hope is great that they will soon get to hear some good news too. They have been demanding a fitment factor hike in pay by as much as 3.68 times and minimum salary at Rs 26,000 level under the aegis of the 7th pay commission.
