7th pay commission teachers salary: Even though most central government employees, state government employees and some in the teaching community have received salary hikes as per 7th CPC, there are a number of others who are demanding for the same. This is so in Punjab, where professors are demanding approval of 7th Pay Commission salaries for themselves. Failing which, they have taken extreme positions on the salary issue. Professors associated with the Punjabi University have held a protest outside the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) office for the implementation of 7th Pay Commission report.

Over 200 professors associated with the Punjabi University Teachers’ Association (PUTA), Government Colleges Teachers Association and Punjab Agriculture Teachers’ Association, Ludhiana, held a protest outside the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) office, reports The Tribune. The protest was held mainly for implementation of 7th Pay Commission for these employees.

Dr Jaswinder Singh Brar, president, PUTA, said that the state government should implement guidelines of 7th Pay Commission at the earliest.

The protesters said that Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh are the only areas where recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission have not been implemented.
