7th Pay Commission: in big move, these government employees, pensioners get credit card like benefits

7th Pay Commission: These central government employees have been making demands for salary hikes time and again and have even launched protests to highlight their plight. However, while no reaction was then forthcoming from authorities, now a really big move has been set in motion. Even as over and above 7th pay commission based pay hike, as per staff's demands, has not been given, an alternative is set to be rolled out that will go a long way in saving the money of staff. Indian Railways says that it will issue credit card-like medical cards to employees and also pensioners soon.

Now, for the Indian Railways employees and pensioners' health check-up will become hassle-free, as the national transporter has decided to issue health cards with unique all-India number. This move may bring partial relief to the Indian Railways employees and pensioners. Now, each employee and pensioner will have a separate medical identity card, with unique a number and on the top of each card there will be a coloured strip, identifying the category of the card-holder -- serving, retired employees or dependents.

Cards for beneficiaries till the age of 15 years be issued with a validity of five years and thereafter the card has to be renewed. Ina  recent report, it was revealed that the pension of 25 lakh retired faculty and other non-teaching staff of central universities and colleges was revised by the Central government.  However, there was no communication on the central government employees demand that the minimum pay and the fitment factor be increased beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendation.  

The pensions revision was as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The order is expected to benefit 25000 pensioners in UGC maintained deemed to be universities and Central Universities to the tune of Rs 6000 to Rs 18000. However, there was no announcement regarding the pay hike of central government employees beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. A vast sections of the central government employees say this much pay hike was not sufficient, as inflation soared.
