7th Pay Commission: Govt employees struggle in minimum pay hike by Rs 8000; teaching staff of SMVDU get good news
The hope are pinned to a list of development taken by government, which leads directly or indirectly to 7th Pay commission drawing attention of all concerned to the matter.
While the central government employees continue to struggle for any clarity on their minimum pay and fitment factor hike beyond the recommendations under 7th Pay Commission (7CPC), the teaching staff of Executive Council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) have received good news. It is being known that, SMVDU based in Jammu & Kashmire has increased the retirement age of teachers to 65 year and approved the grant of pay scales for them. However, government employees are still hoping for an increase in the fitment factor and minimum pay, despite the fact that the government has said it is not thinking along those lines at all.
According to PTI report, the decision for SMVDU teachers were taken by the university's council, which met under the chairmanship of its chancellor and state Governor N N Vohra yesterday.
Reportedly Vohra stated that, to attract well-known teachers to serve the university, the council also decided to grant children education allowance and performance linked awards to the faculty.
SMVDU has been ranked 94th by National Institutional Ranking Framework (Ministry of Human Resources Development) for the year 2018.
Coming back to pay scale of government employees, somewhat 48 lakh demanded fitment factor of 3.68 times with minimum pay scale of Rs 26,000, after when the Union Cabinet revised their minimum pay to Rs 18,000 from previous Rs 7,000 per month, along with fitment factor of 2.57 in June 2016.
It was known that, the government may hike minimum pay to Rs 21,000 and fitment factor to 3.00 times. However, the NDA government at centre claimed that they are looking to hike minimum pay beyond the recommendations of the 7th CPC.
Assurances were provided by a group of ministers including Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on June 30, 2016, that the high level committee will be increasing minimum pay and fitment formula.
