7th Pay Commission: There is good news for Maharashtra state government employees. The 7th Pay Commission will be implemented for these employees from January 2019, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced. However, there is no update regarding the minimum pay and fitment factor hike. These employees are demanding for the pay hike for long now. They argue that the hike the central government has given to employees is not sufficient to cover inflation.
The announcement made by the Maharashtra government is significant as Assembly elections are due in Maharashtra next year. An additional burden of Rs 21,000 crore have to be borne by the government.According to the government estimate, Rs 4,800 crore would be allocated for the implementation of Pay Commission in the Budget.
The state government announced the salary hike various employees unions threatened to go on a three-day strike from August 7 demanding salary hike. The 7th Pay Commission arrears will be given retrospective from January 2016. Dearness Allowance will be retrospective for the last 14 months, according to a DNA report citing the chief minister.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government on Friday approved the revision of pay scales according to the 7th Pay Commission. This will benefit teaching and non-teaching staff of government universities and colleges and government-aided colleges. Haryana government last month decided to hike salaries of guest teachers, who were demanding for the pay hike for long.
Now, the central government employees are hoping against hope that the Narendra Modi government will make some announcement regarding pay hike to central government employees.
