Registering a jump of over 20,000 flyers on 1st June 2020 — first day of Unlock 1.0 or Lockdown 5.0, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri informed about the robust rise in domestic flyers from his official Twitter handle and said that 'domestic operations are picking fast.'

Giving full details of the domestic flyers on the first day of unlock 1.0, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri tweeted, "Jump in the number of flyers from 44,593 on 31 May to 64,651 on 1st June is a welcome sign that our domestic operations are picking pace."

Puri said that total departure of flights on 1st June was 692 while the total number of arrivals were logged 689 and added, "Total movements 1381 with 1,29,253 footfalls at airports on 1st June 2020 (Day 8) till 2359 hrs."

Such a rise in the number of domestic flyers has boosted the demand for starting international flights as well. Replying to the tweet of Hardeep Puri, some people were found asking for the commencement of the international flights as they want to come back to India after the COVID-19 lockdown.
