102 Not Out box office collection: Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor starrer logs 15% occupancy rate, then bags this amount

102 Not Out box office collection: This is a special movie that showcases two of the hottest stars of yesteryears who have managed to keep themselves very much current in today's world. Yes, of course, they no longer dance around trees with damsels! We are talking of none other than Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor who star in their latest film, 102 Not Out. The film logged a 15% occupancy rate in early morning shows on Friday and finally ended up collecting Rs 3.52 crore. Definitely a disappointment as both Bachchan and Kapoor are a joy to watch as they go through their rich repertoire of emotions freely, even exuberantly. However, the film suffered somewhat from mixed reviews from critics. The film is not a laugh riot, comedies have been very successful over recent years, nor does it have any action-thriller sequences and that is what restricts the film's market to a niche - die hard fans or those who want to watch some great acting skills put on show.

While 102 Not Out will receive a good word of mouth boost, this will surely not be big enough to rocket its earnings in any meaningful manner. Having said that, the film's takings will improve over the weekend, but whether the collection will enter double digit level is what most interested people would be watching very closely. Unfortunately, the film did not get any boost from an extended holiday weekend and what is worse, there is a big rival in the theatres that will take all the attention away from 102 Not Out, especially of the youth. And that film is Avengers Infinity War. And even worse, for this new movie, is the fact that the Hollywood superheroes film has become a mammoth success. it has crossed the Rs 150 cr mark in India and is more or less set to enter the Rs 200 cr club! It has earned Rs 163.81 cr so far. 

R Balki's 102 Not Out is yet another attempt, after Cheeni Kum, to explore the age gap issue - this time between a father and son. Their characters are totally different with the older person, the role essayed by Bachchan being quite ebullient and positive while the younger person is dour. So, while the father is full of life at 102, his 75 year old  son has lost all zest for life. Fed up with the negativity, the father decides to become the first person to send his own son to an old age home. In gist, that is the story.
