STOCK MARKET LIVE: Sensex closes higher, global shares up; Nifty seen at 11,700-12,000 range this week
Benchmark stock indices were trading high during the afternoon session on Tuesday, lifted by gains in metals and PSU bank stocks, after opening higher. Nifty ended at 11,960.90 points, up 38.20 points or 0.32 percent, while Sensex closed 158.5 points or 0.40 percent higher at 39,943.02 points. BSE Sensex opened at 39,900.45 points, up 115.93 points or 0.29 percent, while Nifty was trading at 11,948.05 points, 25.35 points or 0.21 percent higher.
Global stock market today opened on a positive note. SGX Nifty in the pre-market session witnessed a rise. In the pre-market session, Indian stocks were trading in the positive territory. After the Donald Trump administration shelved plans for tariffs against Mexico, Asian stocks made modest gains on Tuesday lifting Wall Street. However, fresh US trade threats against China limited any major investor sentiment boost. On Monday, US President Donald Trump said if he cannot make progress in trade talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit, he was ready to impose another round of punitive tariffs on Chinese imports, according to Reuters report. On Monday, BSE benchmark index Sensex ended the day at 39,784.52 points, 168.62 points or 0.43 percent up from the Friday's close.
3:47 pm: Jet Airways shares fell close to 15 percent amid reports that the Hinduja Group and Etihad Airways may not proceed with plans rescue plan. The stock fell 14.41 percent to Rs 107.15 on the BSE during the day to close at Rs 111.95.

After China took policy initiatives to support slowing economy, in Asia, MSCI`s Asia-Pacific stocks outside Japan gained 0.9 percent. Shanghai Composite climbed 2 percent.

Ruchit Jain of Angel Broking said on Zee Business TV that, "If you go through last one-and-half month then you will find that the stock is trading in Rs 190-205 range. This is just above the support base. For short-term, one should keep stop loss at Rs 190 and sell at whatever at the higher end. And if one wants to keep the stock for longer period to earn higher return then they have to keep it at least for 7-8 months." (Stock recommendations)
