European markets are broadly lower today with shares in London off the most. The FTSE 100 is down 1.24% while Germany's DAX is off 1.08% and France's CAC 40 is lower by 0.66%.
Bank Nifty soared over 156 points or 0.90% at 17,582.75 on Monday afternoon session. PSUs were top gainers with Bank of India at with top spot trading at Rs. 98.05 up 3.26%.
NSE was trading at 8,115.70 up 27 points. Ultratech Cement was among the top gainer surging by 3.19% at Rs. 104.80.
At 1.06 pm, Sensex was trading at 26,478.41 up over 80 points or 0.31%, led by strong surges in FMCG, Oil & Gas, Banking and Capital goods stocks.
Commodity Round up
IT stocks were in blood bath by dipping over 158 points or 1.40% after Brexit. Major market movers were the top losers in the sector. Tata Consultancy Service took the top spot in loser at Rs. 2,498 down 2.83%. Remaining major stocks were Infosys at Rs. 1,175.95 (1.55%), Mphasis at Rs. 542.20 (1.33%). Wipro and HCL Technologies were both marginally down at Rs. 551.30 and Rs. 739.10 respectively.
Domestic petroleum stocks were in green on BSE index after Brexit. HPCL was among the top gainer soaring by 4.49% at Rs. 977.20, followed by BPCL at Rs. 1,041.65 up 2.94%, Indian Corporation Oil at Rs. 423.60 up 1.23%.
Market recovers as bank shares surged.
NSE was trading at its 8,100 level up by 11.85 points or 0.15%. The index was positive with 32 advances and 19 declines.
At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was trading at 26,420.21 up 22.50 or 0.09%. State Bank of India was among the top gainer by trading at Rs. 215.25 up 1.89%. After the early trading the 30-stock index showed some positive moment by investors with 19 advances and 11 declines.
Bank Nifty was down by 79.75 at 17,346.30 facing selling pressure. Almost all stocks were trading in red except Punjab National Bank and ICICI Bank which were trading marginally up at Rs. 102.60 and Rs. 231.40 respectively.
NSE Nifty opens at 8,039.35 down 49 points or 0.61%. The 50-stock index was negative with 6 advances and 45 declines.
BSE Sensex opened below 50 points at 26,347.81 led by negative opening from global markets. ITC was among the top gainer at Rs. 356.65 up 0.92%. Overall the index was negative with 11 advances, 12 declines, 3 remaining unchanged and 4 not traded as investors are cautious in placing any funds.
Rupee is trading below 0.205 points or 0.30% at 68.090, as asian market and pound tumbled on early morning trading session. The local currency got open at 67.885.
On Monday morning, Asian stocks fells and the British pound slumped more than 2 %, as markets struggled to shake off deep uncertainty sparked by Britain`s decision to leave the European Union.
