Noida Supertech Twin Towers Demolition: Once taller than Qutub Minar, Noida Supertech twin towers, were reduced to rubble on Sunday afternoon. A breathtaking spectacle of engineering was visible with huge smog of dust after the blast of two giant structures.
Over 3,700 kg of explosives were used to bring down the structures in pursuance of a Supreme Court order that found their construction within the Emerald Court society premises in violation of norms. Around 400 policemen were on duty, besides another 150 to 200 traffic personnel would be at work throughout the day.
Why are Twin Towers demolished?
Amid serious violations of building codes, the Supreme Court had observed that the Noida Authority and Supertech engaged in ‘nefarious complicity’. The apex court eventually ordered the construction company to demolish the buildings at its own expense under the Noida Authority’s guidance..

We all are super excited and confident that nothing will go wrong. We are ready for the big day. We have spent weeks preparing for it. We are checking the park and nearby areas to ensure no person is out. Officials also checked the explosives in the buildings to see if everything is all right.
What realty firm Supertech says
Realty firm Supertech on Sunday said the twin towers set to be demolished this afternoon were constructed as per the building plan approved by Noida development authorities and no deviations were made.
The Twin Towers Apex and Ceyane in Noida are a part of the Emerald Court project at Sector 93A constructed on land allotted by Noida authority. The building plans of the Project including the two towers were approved by the Noida Authority in 2009 which was strictly in accordance with the then prevailing Building Bye laws announced by the State Government.
Preparations in full-swing
Ahead of the court-mandated implosion of the buildings scheduled at 2.30 pm, heavy police deployment was seen in the area where authorities had also stationed water tankers and anti-smog guns.
The roads in and around the twin towers were heavily barricaded with authorities not allowing any vehicles there. The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will remain shut between 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm, officials said.
Officials also performed puja in the morning to ensure safe demolition of the buildings.

How would demolition take place?
On the duration of demolition, he said first all explosives would bust in a series from the bottom floor to the top in eight to nine seconds, and then the buildings would take another four to five seconds to come down with the whole event taking place under 15 seconds.
What DCP (Traffic) Ganesh Saha says
Diversions would be placed on roads leading to the twin towers in Noida Sector 93A from Sunday morning while the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, barely 200 metres from the demolition site, would be closed for vehicular movement from 2 pm to 3 pm
Google maps will have updated feeds for diversions and real-time traffic situations on Sunday, Saha said, adding that arrangements have been made for the movement of emergency vehicles.

What Noida Authority says
Nearby Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be closed from 2.15 pm to 2.45 pm on Sunday and the city will remain no-fly zone for drones. The air space within one nautical mile radius above the blast will also remain briefly unavailable for flights during demolition time.
