G20 Summit LIVE updates: India and its role in ensuring global south is not affected by the global fragmentation
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - these two words are not just a catchline for Bharat's G20 Presidency but reflect aspirations of a nation strongly coming out of the colonial age in ways not many would have imagined even a few decades back. According to Himanshu Sikka, Lead - Health, IPE Global, it is not just the hope of the 1.4+ billion Indians but reflects the collective desire of the global south, much of which is still grappling with its past and sees India as the 'North Star.'
"All this is not happening overnight but results from efforts brewing for a long time. All the stars are lining up nicely: BRICS, G20 Presidency, Chandrayan 3, and Aditya L1!!" Sikka said.

G20 Summit LIVE updates: How India G20 Summit will be the path to global leadership
G20 represents a significant portion of the global economy, accounting for around 85% of global GDP and two-thirds of the world's population. India, as one of the world's largest economies, benefits from being part of this influential group. According to Ashwajit Singh - Managing Director, IPE Global (international development consulting firm) - G20 provides the country an opportunity to share its success stories with the world and learn from the experiences of the rest on a wide range of economic, financial, and developmental issues.
"It allows India to assert its interests, seek support for its development goals, and participate in global governance and policy discussions that impact its economy and society. Taking up the Presidency amidst widespread polarisation and geopolitical rigidities, G20 is an opportunity for the world’s fifth largest economy to steer the conversation towards human-centric development that aligns with the priorities of the global south while also addressing its six priority areas (Green Development, Climate Finance, LiFE, Accelerated, Inclusive & Resilient Growth, Accelerating progress on SDGs). Hosting the G20 Summit is a milestone moment which can potentially change the way the world sees India which stands firm on advancing peace, stability to build a shared future together," Singh said.
