Schools Closed Today: The recent upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases across the country has compelled various state governments to close down their schools and other educational institutions yet again. The schools and educational institutions across the country were shut down in March last year when the coronavirus pandemic first broke out in the country. As situation normalized, schools and educational institutions were reopened in various states. However, the recent upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases has forced several state governments to close down their schools and educational institutions. Here is a list of state where schools and other educational institutions have either been closed down or their closure has been extended.
Uttar Pradesh
Punjab
In an attempt to contain the rising number of COVID-19 cases, recently, the Punjab government has ordered that the schools and colleges in the state will remain shut till April 10, 2021. Earlier, the Punjab government had ordered the schools and colleges in the state to close down till March 31, 2021. Source: PTI
Madhya Pradesh
The government has decided to close all schools in the state up to class 8 till April 15, 2021. The Madhya Pradesh School Education Department stated that based on the committee decision taken on December 4, 2020, schools for class 1 to 8 were closed till March 31, 2021. Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the closure till class 8 has been extended to April 15, 2021. Source: PTI
